Salmon making a Redd

A female Chum (or dog) Salmon - Oncorhynchus keta - is preparing a redd for her eggs by turning on her side and flicking rocks and stones out of the river bed to make a small depression called a redd. The male is watching carefully and fending off other would be suitors waiting for just the right time to coat her eggs with sperm as she lays them. The female then covers over the fertilized eggs and moves on to make another Redd somewhere else near by.
