Coombes Croft Library extension

    Newer Older

15 October 2010. High Road, Tottenham outside Coombes Croft branch library. With its, at the time new front extension.

The whole of the library inside had been refurbished and looked airy, comfortable and - when I visited - well used. Inside the extension is a small meeting room which local people could hire by the hour. (Check current prices with Library staff.)

The library was reopened for users in August 2010. So if you live in north Tottenham go and take a look.

► Update 2014. If you want to see it you'd better hurry. Our red-rosette wearing, property developer-loving, Tory policy-following "Labour" Council has approved the destruction of the entire Love Lane Estate, including this library and the flats above.

This is supposed to be "regeneration". In fact it seems to be the same disgraceful social cleansing which is going on in many parts of London with the aim of forcing out poorer residents. To be replaced by a imaginary "villages" and fake "quarters" for professionals to take on huge debt for a home. Or for some buy-to-let investor to make huge profits.

I like that extension - but it's not right for this building .. and I see a nice 'pee corner' there, just crying out for someone to use it...

BTW, what's happened to the brickwork?

June 2010. The library extension was under construction.

Sometimes I take the trees for granted.
