Wastwater, Lake District - explored
I wanted to enhance the sense of tranquility in this lovely setting, so I flattened the water with Lee Filters - progressively layering them after experimenting with test shots. I used ND9, ND6 and ND3 - all soft grads. It was cloudy, with a lot of diffuse light, but the sun was just beginning to break through at the far end of the lake, producing a pleasing glow in the distant clouds and mountain slopes. The post-production (I used Lightroom 4.1) is quite minimal - the filters did most of the work - but I lightened the foreground rocks very slightly, increased 'clarity' overall and moved the tone setting a little to the right, thereby minimising the blues in the scene. Thanks for comments!
