Dinner Bell at Phantom Ranch - Grand Canyon National Park

    Newer Older

This is the dinner bell at the Canteen at Phantom Ranch. If you make reservations you can enjoy a steak dinner, famous stew dinner or breakfast at the Cantina. I'm always lined up at the door long before they ring this bell :)

Phantom Ranch is almost a mile down and 10 miles by trail from the South Rim. Approximately 4.5million people visit the South Rim each year and maybe 50,000 make it to here.

You can call me a lot of things, just don't call me late for dinner.

I just stayed at the campground for two nights last week, and the steak dinner there was AMAZING. I do not know if it was because of the long days of hiking or if it was really that good, but I could not be happier with the meals we got.

It's a good New York Strip and it is really appreciated after a tough trip in the Canyon. I especially enjoy the fresh salad after a diet of dehydrated meals. If I don't make it here, I almost always finish a trip at either the Jacob Lake Inn with a steak & salad or at the Bright Angel Lodge with a Burger and salad.
