Hot Water Beach is a rare opportunity to soak in hot water at the beach. It is very popular. There are hot springs under the sand. They can only be visited for about an hour either side of low tide. We rented spades for $5 with a $20 deposit. We hiked about a 1/2 mile down the beach to the large crowd of people. The beach looks like it was rooted by hogs. So there are cold spots and hot spots. When we started digging we only hit cold water. Finally, someone abandoned a pool and we squatted right in there. The pool was perfect until we started digging too much. We uncovered a super hot spring and the pool heated up to unbearable. Finally the tide came in and a rogue wave washed our pool away. We kept moving up the beach until they were all reclaimed by the surf. It is a fun experience. Too bad it isn't a nude hot water beach. For more information: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot_Water_Beach
