Macrochelys temminckii (juvenile), Turkey Creek, Terrell County, Georgia 2

This is a juvenile (maybe two years old) alligator snapping turtle that I found while working in a tributatry of Ichawaynochaway Creek. The turtle is rust colored because sediments in the Georgia "red hills" contain iron and the turtle remains buried in sediment most of the time.
