Nameless (2008-11-13_EOS 40D_100-1431)

Smoke photography is really addictive! I can't get bored of endless forms and shapes it can take.

I saw a pic on the net that inspired this shot unfortunately I don't have the link to give due credits.

The spoon was held in place by a very strange home made thing. Underneath the spoon, at close distance, I placed 2 incent sticks.

Camera was set at ISO 100 6 seconds exposure in total darkness and smoke was manually painted with light with an external flash at 1/128 of its power. I fired the flash twice if not mistaken.

Although I've decided to publish this version I'm unsure if it would have been better in colors. Maybe I will end-up posting both.

If you have any idea about a name for it, I am open to suggestions.

that is fantastic. the black and white is superb, color version should be good if you have some nice colors, or rather white balance tricks on this huh. this is great

It's really interesting how the smoke curls underneath the spoon.

Did you use gelled flashes for the coloured verion of this?

Thanks ! you should try it. Sad to notice you stopped padding already

No gelled flash, however the smoke ended up with 2 colors naturally I think the flash hit at 2 different places with different intensities. I'll upload the other soon.

Creative and fun! Flip the image vertically and it would look like smoke was overflowing off the spoon.
