Spring awakens our rivers - Alaska
Standing alone in the silence of the Alaskan wilderness, I could hear the water trickling and the ice cracking, as the river opened itself to the warm spring sun. Life is once again returning to the north, as the bears come out of their dens - moose munch on willow shoots - and fish once again breathe life into our rivers and streams. Millions upon millions of migratory birds pass by overhead, and ocassionally stop for a nap on our still partially frozen lakes and ponds before resuming their journey north to the breeding grounds. There is nothing more exciting than the awakening of the far north in the spring.
