The FBI and the General Services Administration are searching for a new site for a consolidated FBI headquarters. One of the requirements for the new site is that it offer a 350ft security buffer zone around the building.

Though DC is now out of the running for the new site location, this graphic shows what a 350ft buffer around the existing Hoover Building footprint would look like if by some chance the GSA and FBI chose to reuse the existing building site.

In short, such a buffer zone would impact almost every building on the blocks adjacent to the Hoover Building, including the IRS, the Justice Department, and the historic Ford's Theater.
