Octagons for October #17: Metamorphosis
I was busy yesterday, and didn't have time to take photos and post... so I'm doing a double post today.
I've always been fascinated by the idea of Flexagons. Yami Yamauchi's "Fireworks" was of course quite inspiring, but the first one I folded was actually Eric Kenneway's Ring Flexagon. Gadi Vishne's Flexicube is also an interesting variation on this theme.
So as it turns out, my camera will do video at an acceptable resolution. I realized that single photos don't do this kind of model justice, so I decided to wait until I could make and upload a video.
Folded from a 2x1 rectangle, no cuts or glue of course! The model stays together because of an overlap in the paper, which is then locked together by the pleats along the edges.
Thank you to my brother for holding the camera!
