The Trail to Forester Pass

Forester Pass, at 13,200 feet, is the highest pass on the John Muir Trail before reaching Mt. Whitney. The plan was to camp as high as possible on this side of the pass, and go over tomorrow morning while we were still fresh. This would give us a chance to do some high altitude photography in the evening and morning light.

Did I say I hate blue skies? Well, when camping high blue skies can be your friend. No lightning, no rain, no snow, and hopefully no wind.

From a photographic point of view, there is something I hate more than blue skies: photographs that started with a blue sky that have a sky from another time or place added. That's not photography; it's illustration. Sure, be my guest, anything goes, but in my book real photographers don't fake it.
