Morning Smog, 2

    Newer Older

Another shot taken just before landing in Calama, Chile. The haze is from dust and smog from a nearby mine. I had another version of this with a 2:1 crop which had less on the top and bottom and more to the left. The composition of that one just never felt that good, so I decided to stick with this square version.

This is my last upload from this plane ride . . . so I'll change things up a little for my next upload.

I like those shadows, too. In fact, that's a big part of why I never fully liked the 2:1 crop as it removed about half of the shadows.

A great series Drew - certainly looks like a dramatic flight with some wonderful vistas! Difficult to compare this to your 2:1 version without seeing that, but compositionally this feels sound to me.

Big time contrasts, and interesting gradient in the sky. Cool shot.

Great shot. Really enjoy the lighting here. The second row of mountains and beyond look just like a painting.
