Day on the Hill 2015
Nearly 750 AFSCME members dodged construction and crammed into the remaining hallways and offices at the Capitol during Council 5's annual Day on the Hill March 24.

After rallying at the Crowne Plaza in downtown St. Paul, members met with legislators, urging them to:

-- Protect public workers who protect the public, by investing in safe staffing and adopting policies that reverse the growing number of attacks on state workers in mental-health and other facilities
-- Help working parents by promoting earned sick and safe time, paid parental leave, and fair scheduling; providing more protection against wage theft; and fighting attempts to roll back the minimum wage for restaurant workers.
-- Budget for an even better Minnesota by reinvesting in education, transportation, and tax and spending policies that benefit everyday workers
-- Move forward on transportation, with a long-term, statewide plan that dedicates new revenue to improve roads, bridges, transit, and bike and pedestrian connections
-- Preserve and protect defined-benefit pensions
