2014 Fellow: Kathryn Dutile (GDPU)
Kathryn Dutile (GDPU, Uganda, Africa): has recently completed her master's degree in International Development specializing in Development Management from the University of Manchester. Her dissertation analyzed the capacity of community-led water and sanitation programs in Sub-Saharan Africa. In support of her master's program, she also completed fieldwork in Uganda which investigated the challenges to delivering sanitation services from a gendered perspective. Kathryn's past positions vary from working in international education to writing for an international business publication. Kathryn became interested in development during her study abroad and volunteering experiences in Ghana, South Korea, and Semester at Sea as an undergraduate student. These experiences sparked Kathryn's passion for human rights and advocacy. Kathryn is excited for the opportunity to support the Gulu Disabled Persons Union in their mission to create accessible toilets and to advocate on behalf of persons with disabilities in Uganda.
