This is another shot of my great-grandfather, Ralph, in his uniform, or at least part of it, in 1918 or 1919 while he was deployed to France with the Kansas national guard. "Chief mechanic Ralph" is written on the back. It looks like they're just setting up some kind of tent in the background, so perhaps they've just arrived at a new location. Or, perhaps, just arrived at their station in France for the first time. There's no indication of who took this snapshot, but it's entirely possible that it was his brother, Harry, as they served at the same time in the same unit during the war.
