Mother's Brazilian United Press Credentials
Well, this was a surprise!
I hadn't known my mother was also a correspondent for United Press in Brazil.
I think by the time this card was issued, my father ("James" on the "Diretor" line, above) was the UP bureau chief. So he signed the card as the director, and my mother signed it on the bottom line as the correspondent.
My mother came from a newspaper family and she was involved in running the newspaper before her marriage, so it would make sense that she'd continue working as a correspondent.
And, between you and me, at that time and in that place, a press card could be useful as you went about your daily life.
The bearer, Mrs. ______________, is a correspondent of this press agency's Central Office in the Federal Capital.
We ask the authorities to provide full cooperation to the bearer in carrying out her mission.
