Strombosia javanica Blume. Olacaceae. CN: [Malay and regional vernacular names - Dedali, Dedali badak, Bayan, Belian landak, Petaling gajah, Kamap, Maharik (Sakai), Banatha (Myanmar); Wuwusu (Indonesia); Kayu kacang (Indonesia); Entelung (Sumatra); Belian landak (Sarawak); Petaling gajah (Malaysia); Entelung, Kayu kacang (Indonesia)]. Distribution - Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia. Tree with a dense crown; usually growing 10 - 25 m tal; bole, which is usually up to 70cm in diameter, rarely to 100cm, is straight, often with knobs. The plant is harvested from the wild for its edible leaves and its useful timber.
