Female Mallard - Wings - Explored!
A spare few hours seen me and the black fox heading to a local park and woods. Just to one side of it was a fishing pond I wasn't aware of but the fox was. So we headed there, I wasn't expecting much but it was a nice large pond with good access for low positions and very responsive ducks. A bit of bread thrown and they'd fly over landing right next to you. Then they'd wonder off down the other end and more bread would see them shoot back. The poor light and woodland cover was tricky for exposure But I seemed to find the right setting and was pleased with the results I got.
This shot was one of few keepers from the flight shots, and probably not the best. I learned that shooting the ducks as they come at you doesn't work very well as the lens has to keep focusing closer but shooting as they fly past or to the side is much easier. How this head on shot worked then I really don't know but Im very pleased.
