Cloudy Afternoon Over Central Park, New York City

Newer Older

Overcast afternoon view of Central Park looking north from the roof of a friend of a friend. I tilted the camera up a little bit to get capture more of the texture in the sky. Kind of amazing how quickly the leaves came out. Feels good. There will probably be a lot of this comp in my stream this summer because I'd like to capture the scene under different conditions.

Single exposure / f/8 / 1/13s / 12mm (18mm=) / ISO 100

Huge 2000-pixel-wide version.

The delay in Flickr makes it a bit difficult to see yesterday's and today's side-by-side. I like this daylight regular exposure too. Maybe not as dramatic as the long exposure, but it looks a little more "real lifeish" if that makes sense. If anything, the skyline looks even more huge is this one, and I do really like the notes telling me where things are. Coolness.

this is a hell of a scene, worth capturing as often as possible. and well captured here, as usual.

    This is really fantastic.
My favorite part is the horizon and how clear it looks even in cloudy weather. I also love the contrast of the gray, dark buildings and the vibrant green trees.
