I couldn't resist the bouquet of tightly-balled peonies at the market, and I've been enchanted by the wild abandon of their blooming. They remind me of Dutch still life paintings, the kind with vivid little insects perched on the flowers.
The background is an old rusted metal screen my neighbor had leaning against the side of his house, which I quickly asked to have as a photographic prop. It is laid atop some red wrapping paper.
Lighting: An SB-900 in a Lumiquest softbox camera left, and a silver/gold reflector camera right.
