Swans and Carp

Swans and Carp swimming in the moat of the Matsumoto Castle, in Matsumoto, Nagano prefecture, Japan. There are several of these white swans living in the moats of the castle, and it THRONGS with carp of all sizes.

In my opinion the composition could work better with a different, cleaner crop. It's also a shame to have these overexposed areas on the swans and stone-work.

Nonetheless the light on the water's bed is really nice and the fish themselves are brilliantly captured.

Thanks Josh - I was trying to figure out why this looked a bit blah when I looked at it today, and I think you might have hit on it with your comment about the stone and the crop... I had trouble trying to get that second bloody swan to swim round that corner, and in the end he never did ;-(

Bloody swans. They're rarely cooperative. The carp, on the other hand, are top notch. Beautiful image where they are concerned.
