Just sitting here thinking .....
While we were in Orlando in November we spent a day at Disney's Animal Kingdom, courtesy of our friends, whose eldest son son is "something big" at Disney. He rotates parks each year and this year he's at Animal Kingdom.
They have two groups of gorillas there, a family unit who have been breeding successfully and have youngsters and a totally separate group of four young males. This is one of those four bachelors boys !
Amazingly the four males all get on well together. There is one silver-back (not this chap) and they have a strict hierarchy in operation which keeps squabbles to a minimum. One of the keepers said there had never been a serious fight between them.
I must say the animals at the park are kept in the most wonderful landscaped and natural conditions as only Disney can do and I think it's testament to those excellent conditions that they have so many successful breeding programmes in operation.
We spent quite a while watching these magnificent creatures at play .... and rest !! ;o))
