The Cairngorm gravity race, is probably the most challenging of its type in Britain, so its no surprise that competitors were nervous!

The Soap Box Derby is a youth soapbox car racing program which has been run in the United States since 1934. World Championship finals are held each July at Derby Downs in Akron, Ohio. Cars competing in this and related events are unpowered, relying completely upon gravity to move.

Regarding the accident / crash of one of the soapbox carts on the Cairngorm Mountain. One cart crashed (Number 6), with the injured Inverbervie man taken by Ambulance to the Raigmore Hospital in inverness. Press images available of the scene of the accident, however these will not be published on Flickr. It is understood that the participant was Conscious when assisted to the ambulance, the impact was on the bales near the junction of the one way road to the Left (Up) and exit road to the Right from the base station. He had suspected leg fractures, this will be updated as information comes through.
