Giant Mullein - Erbascum Thapsis

A large, statuesque "weed" producing a single flower spike on which the flowers emerge sequentially over an extended period of time. Known since ancient times, it is said to be the plant represented at the foot of St. John the Baptist in Carvaggio's painting...tho looking it up, I can't say that I'm convinced.

Surprisingly, this is the lone plant of its species that I've stumbled upon in my wanderings.
