Chocolate river

One evening after work last week I decided to delay jumping in the car and heading off home, and instead, had a stroll around the Hawthorne and Steel bridges loop. The river was remarkably brown; browner than I'd ever seen it before, and the quantity of wooden flotsam speeding downstream was incredible. It looked like the river was completely unnavigable, yet a few boat owners were rolling the dice and speeding up and down the channel.

This shot was taken from the jetty between Burnside and, as you can see, the Steel bridge.
