100 Strangers: #16
During a rare astronomical event, I rode out to a point on the coast where I heard there would be telescopes set up by amateur and professional astronomers.
Alex, pictured in the centre here, had the busiest viewing station with his homemade 8-inch reflector telescope set up with strong filters for safe viewing of the sun. He hosted a steady stream of visitors from the community, there to witness the transit of Venus which won't occur again until the year 2117.
When asked, he didn't mind at all having his picture taken. I was pleased to catch the sun, the visitors, the telescope, and his smile in this photo.
