This past Saturday Ashley and I made a quick day trip to Rodeo Beach. The weather was fairly nice (if a bit cloudy and windy) and we had a good time relaxing at the ocean. I got pretty soaked trying to get a few shots closer to the action (note to self: buy some hip waders) while Ashley kicked back and watched me run around trying all sorts of different compositions.

I was excited to see how my new filter fared at the beach and it did not disappoint! Also, I discovered that with enough light I'm able to use live view with the filter attached, allowing me to manually focus and compose without removing and reattaching the filter every time. What a time saver!

By the time I was done shooting, the ND filter looked trashed from all the sea spray. I was pretty worried about permanent damage to my new toy but fortunately a combination of lens pen and my t-shirt had it looking good as new a few minutes later. If you haven't invested in a lens pen you really need to pick one up! They work wonders and are an invaluable addition to any photographer's arsenal.

Nicely seen. Love the streaks on the beach. I didn't know you see the scene in live view with a 10-stop -- that makes it a whole new ballgame. Very cool.
