Reflecting on the passing of time.

    Newer Older

After many months gathering dust, on Friday night I took my D700 out for a bit of exercise in Snowdonia. First stop was at Llyn Dinas near Beddgelert. Stood at the shores of the lake surrounded by nothing but starlight (and the occassional passing motorist) , it was a pretty amazing sight.

The water was so still and reflected beautifully the stars above.

Awesome, do you know the reason for the blue shift on the stars?

    6. c@rljones 27 months ago | reply

Thanks Rob, I'm not sure tbh, I'm assuming it's just to do with the light being diffracted through the atmosphere at those angles?

Beautiful. I like how you allowed the lower hill/mountain to be on the right to accentuate the star trails. Well composed.

If I'm not very much mistaken, I saw this in a major Sunday Newspaper recently. When I first saw it, it took me a while to work out that the light was from the headlights of the passing cars. Well done. Great shot.
