Missing Aleena Grlakova

**UPDATE 2.2.2019**

ALENA GRLAKOVA – New image released as searches continue

Officers investigating the disappearance of 38-year-old Rotherham woman Alena Grlakova have issued a new photograph of her.

Alena, who was reported missing on Tuesday 15 January, was last seen on Boxing Day 2018. Over recent days, detailed searches have been carried out in the Parkgate area, close to where she was last seen.

These searches are today continuing, in the same area, as T/Superintendent Iain Chorlton explains.

“We now know Alena left the Travellers Inn pub, Parkgate at around 7pm on Wednesday 26 December, with a man we have since identified and spoken to.

“She then turned left on to Greasbrough Road, leading to School Street, before turning right on to Scrooby Lane.

“A man, described as around 5ft 7ins – 5ft 9ins tall, of a stocky/plump build, between 30-50-years-old, walked past her and wished her a Merry Christmas. The man is said to have been wearing a dark coat and possibly a hat.

“Alena then turned to follow the man, walking in the same direction as him towards Barbot Hall Road. Our efforts to identify this man continue and we need anyone with information to come forward.

“We are continuing to follow up a number of lines of enquiry in relation to Alena’s disappearance and I’d like to stress that searches continuing at the canal behind Parkgate retail park are just one line of enquiry.

“A number of open land searches are also taking place and I’d urge anyone with information to speak to an officer while they are conducting enquiries.

“As part of our renewed appeal today, we’ve also released this new image we have of Alena. At the time she went missing we believe she was wearing a thin black sweatshirt with writing on it which said something similar to ‘little black sweat,’ black tracksuit bottoms with white on the side and possible sandals. She wasn’t wearing a coat.

“If you can help, please call either 101 or speak to an officer in our incident room on 01709 443540.

“You can also speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 5555111.”

**UPDATE 30.01.2019**

Today, officers looking for missing Rotherham woman Alena Grlakova, have released new information about where she was last seen.

T/Superintendent Iain Chorlton, leading the search for 38-year-old Alena, is now appealing for information to trace a man who she is thought to have spoken to on Boxing Day 2018.

“On Wednesday 26 December, we know that Alena was in the Travellers Inn pub on Broad Street, Rotherham, where she sat down and spoke to another man.

“Following the release of CCTV footage yesterday afternoon, we have now identified that man who has assisted us with enquiries and provided helpful information as to where Alena went next.

“We now believe that she came out of the Travellers Inn pub, turned left on to Greasbrough Road, leading on to School Street before turning right on to Scrooby Street.

“As Alena continues walking up Scrooby Street, we now have information to suggest that a man walked past her, in the opposite direction. The man is said to have wished Alena merry Christmas, before we believe she turned to walk back the way she had come from, towards Barbot Hall Road.

“The man we are now looking to identify and speak to is described as around 5ft 7ins – 5ft 9ins tall, of a stocky/plump build, between 30-50-years-old and wearing a dark coat and maybe a hat.

“I appreciate the description is not the most specific but I’d urge people to cast their minds back to Boxing Day evening. At that time - just after 7pm - Rotherham would no doubt have been busy with people enjoying the festive period. Did you see the man described?

“Did you see Alena? We now know that she was wearing a thin black sweatshirt with writing on which said something similar to ‘little black sweat,’ black tracksuit bottoms with white on the side and possibly sandals. She wasn’t wearing a coat.

“We’re grateful to everyone who has come forward with information so far but we still need more to piece together where Alena went next and who she may have seen or been in contact with since Boxing Day.

“If you can help, please call 101 quoting incident number 450 of 15 January or call our incident room directly on 01709 443540. You can also pass information to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”

Police in Rotherham are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of Alena Grlakova and have released CCTV of her last confirmed sighting.

Alena was seen in the Travellers Inn, Parkgate on Boxing Day (26 December 2018) around 6.30pm with a man. She left the pub just before 7pm.

Officers would also like to speak with the man who joins her at the table as it is believed he may have vital information about Alena’s next steps.

Alena is described as having blonde shoulder-length hair and being of a slim build. She has distinctive tattoos on her hands, one being her own name, the other is her daughter’s name - ‘STELLA’. In the CCTV she is seen to be wearing a black long-sleeved top and black trousers with a white stripe down the side, and clip in hair extensions.

As part of the ongoing investigation, police have also been making house-to-house enquiries in the Parkgate, Swinton and Herringthorpe areas.

Superintendent Iain Chorlton of Rotherham District said: “We are very concerned for Alena’s welfare, as it has now been more than a month since she was last seen.

“The last confirmed sighting we have is from the Travellers Inn on Boxing Day, where she only stayed a short amount of time, but we don’t know where she went from there, and where she has been since.

“If you know Alena, and have seen her since Boxing Day, please get in touch. We would also like to hear from the man who appears to join Alena at her table – it is hoped she may have mentioned where she was planning to go or saw the direction she travelled after she left.

“If you have any information, please do get in touch so we can find Alena.”

If you can help, please call the incident room number on 01709 443540.
