M31B1 Armored Recovery Vehicle

Introduced in late 1942 to recover damaged armored vehicles from the battlefield, the M31 ARV is based on the M3 "Lee" Medium Tank chassis. Instead of the normal 37mm gun in the turret, a large crane boom was fitted and the turret was turned to face the rear. The normal 75mm gun armament in the sponson was replaced with a dummy tube and the mount was converted to an entrance door. Behind it is a M5A1 Stuart Light Tank.
