Small red-eyed Damselfly

Dragonfly and damselflies have been hard to come by this summer. So it was a delight to find this male Small Red-eyed Damselfly (Erythromma viridulum) in Holland. Although it has rapidly colonised the southeast of England from the continent in the last decade or so, it is a species that i have never seen before.

(As I don't have my field guides with me, thanks to David Kitching for confirmation of the id!)
