THE DON FRANCISCO ESQUIERES’S ESTAMPA AND ESTAMPITA COLLECTION
When I was just a little child, my grandparents used to spread the gospel with us, their grandchildren, through these pictures, what they so called estampita, it was compiled by Don Francisco Esquieres, a patron of Art Nouveau, and a fellow of the XYZ Club, a elite art society in Lucban During the 1920’s. These collections were so stunning, when we talked about it, maybe it because of the vivid pictures and avow expression of the old man’s craftsmanship. In my sincero gratitud, that now I appreciate the importance of these estampas and estampitas, to the late Don Francisco, Maraming Salamat po!
Thank you also for the Camareras and Camarerros for giving me the full possibility to surf in their archives, sa inyong lahat Salamat!
The Collection is classified in several categories, the Spanish Colonial Collection, The Hispano-Filipino Collection, The American Colonial Collection, The Liberation Period Collection, and Filipinana Collection. The collection is presented in several albums, some in folios, and compilation of the large estampa. A quantity of estampas and estampitas are not for photos, because of their current state in the black room. It is my great pleasure to present to you some of these collections.
Large pics., upon request, thank you.
