Envy Grows on Trees

Not really a fantastic shot or anything, especially with that 'gorgeous' white sky ; ) But I thought I'd show off some Maryland woods. Those vines are the invasive Asiatic tearthumb, Persicaria perfoliata (formerly Polygonum perfoliatum), and they're sharp!

I always had mixed feelings about these woods. On the one hand, I think it's gorgeous. I love all the green, and the way the vines just cover everything from the ground up to the trees is remarkable. However, I realize this species is not supposed to be here, and is out-competing native species, which I would much rather see, even if I had to sacrifice some of the green.
