    For 24 Hours of Flickr

This is an entrance to a forest preserve that I drive by every day on my way to work. Since the goal for this assignment included "snapping daily moments," I wanted to take this shot to share with my flickr friends. This is one of those times that the image in my head turned out to be the same image as in my photo.

Thank you all for your visits and comments. Maybe I'm a little sentimental today, thinking about how flickr connects us all around the globe. But I really appreciate all my flickr friends! You give my photography a purpose and meaning that it otherwise could never have.

Lynn, I love this. It is similar to the one I posted today. It is the sort of scene that always catches my eye as well . Rustic, irregular fences with dandelions and grasses so untended and so, what? simple. Like poetry. You have a good eye for just this sort of old fashioned scene. Keep shooting. Ellen

I love the "on the brink of something" feel about this one. The colours are amazing, and I've always had a thing for wooden fences.

Hey there! I'm an editor for a hard-bound book that's currently in production, and found your photos via a Flickr search for great Chicago-area photographers.

CBS2 is putting on a photo contest for the purpose of finding the absolute best photos of the Chicago area, then publishing them in a fine-art coffee-table book. What's unique about this contest is that users are in the drivers seat, voting for the photos they think should be in the book. There's also a lot of prizes to be won, although for most photographers the exposure (especially if your photos make the book) is the reason to get involved.

We're calling it Capture My Chicago. It's all free and I think your photos would be a great fit. You retain all rights and you get some great exposure for your website, Flickr page, portfolio, etc. (we properly credit you, and link back to you all over the place, we even help you sell prints if you're set up to do that. Plus, your website is published in the book). If you've got a free minute and want a shot at getting published, winning prizes, or just want to see some other great Chicago-area photos, head over to Capture My Chicago.

Note: The project is currently in the "seeding" phase, which is why we are reaching out to you and other Flickr photographers. It's a great chance for us to reach out to a community of talented folks we can trust to help get the chapters filled out before the general release to the public. In the very near future (next week or so), the public-facing promotional campaign will start. Now is your chance to get in before many others and get your photos in the mix.

Oh and we're set up with Flickr to use the Flickr API so putting your photos on the Capture My Chicago website is a click of a button.

If you'd like to know more about the project, or want to shoot me a FlickrMail, please feel free to do so.

      Thanks for your time!
      -Chris
