Yew Tree

There is a legend that the yew tree was planted over the grave of a monk who had been absent for a hundred years and returned again to die. Another tale is of a miraculous image of the Blessed Virgin Mary buried underneath, and it was believed that should anyone harm the tree, they would die within the year. This went unheeded by a solider who cut off a small branch, which then seeped blood. He promptly dropped dead on the spot.
