Banoffee Pie

I got to know this in the Spread Eagle Inn when visiting the famous landscape garden of Stourhead in Wiltshire.

We had a lovely lunch there in the beautiful old inn and later in the afternoon I came back to have something like a cake.

When they told me they had "Banoffee Pie" and described it as a mixture from bananas, toffee and pastry it sounded kinda exotic to me and of course I had to try it. It turned out to be highly addictive!!!

The toffee is made by boiling a can of condensed milk in water for hours.

It seems to have been invented at The Hungry Monk restaurant in Jevington, East Sussex in 1972.

I eat it every now and then when I am in Britain. But this one was definitely the best I ever had.
