Dewdrops in the Dawn (Happy Mother's Day) - EXPLORED with much gratitude
Dewdrops in the Dawn
by Sheree Zielke
(dedicated to mothers & children and grandmothers & grandchildren the world over)
I know not what, I know not why,
For those morning dewdrops make me cry.
Birthed in groans, before the light,
Those lovely dewdrops are a sight.
A tentative touch, afraid to break,
Lovely dewdrops, the Lord doth make.
To have, and to hold, but not too strong,
For dewdrops change, as days grow long.
As the sun raises fiery arms towards the day,
Those tiny dewdrops slip away.
Were I the sun, and in my sky,
I wouldn’t raise my arms so high,
I’d let those little dewdrops lie,
For just a while longer.
My eldest daughter blessed us with five grandchildren. Three were born in our home, and all were born in the wee hours of the morning.
Like dewdrops, they appeared one day; like dewdrops, they have changed; and like dewdrops their littleness has all but disappeared.
Thank God for dewdrops. And thank God for daughters who share.
Happy Mother’s Day, Rienna.
Happy Mother’s Day to all Flickr mothers and grandmothers!
