day thirty - family.
I'm so sad to post-and-run on the last day of this challenge, when I'd love to be getting all reflective about it and enjoying all of the other last-day-of-June photos, but I'm doing some last-minute googling and food packing for a day of being out and about picnicking and museum-ing, so this will have to do for now.
This card is one of my birth announcements, printed from a hand-carved stamp my dad made of a family of killer whales (...or their fins, anyway). My dad is a huge whale fan, and whales were always a big part of my childhood---our house was full of whale stuff, instead of dinosaur facts I rattled off whale facts to complete strangers (DID YOU KNOW THE BLUE WHALE IS THE BIGGEST WHALE? IT CAN BE UP TO 100 FEET LONG AND WEIGH 100 TONS!!) and the Ocean Hall (otherwise known as "the room with the giant whale hanging from the ceiling") at the Museum of Natural History will always be one of my favourite places in the world.
