2018 08 14 Harbour Hill and Bells Hill
We met at Flotterstone as usual and walked beside the reservoir until we could take the turn off for Harbour Hill. We followed the track to the Saddle between Capelaw and Harbour Hill. We then climbed up to the top of Harbour Hill when the rain started. It was not heavy to begin with but got gradually worse until we all had put on Rain gear. That did not stop us getting soaked!
We carried on down the hill crossing the track to Bonaly at the bottom, and started the climb up to Bells Hill. As the track was only contouring round the end of the hill we left it and made directly for the top in the rain. We did not stop for a photo opportunity at the top.
We carried on down the hill via a useful gate (we hate climbing Barbed wire fences) until we reached the road...where we did have to climb a barbed wire fence to the displeasure of a local. (No photos as rain and mobile phone cameras is a bad mixture).
From there back along the side of the reservoir to Flotterstone where we had a wet but very pleasant meal at the Flotterstone Inn, just when the Sun came out and shone for the whole of the meal.
Distance 6.05 miles in 2 hours 25 Mins climbing 1014 ft. We had only used up 467 calories. Temperature 17.2 C.
