Konevitsa (Hevossaari), Laatokka. 💚 Island on the lake. Summer.

One more photo in the first comment!!!

Spirit of the north...

It was 2 days trip, last weekend. This is the very beautiful island famous as the site of the Konevsky Monastery. It is located off the southwestern shore of Lake Ladoga.

In the Middle Ages, the island was considered holy by the Finnish tribes who particularly revered a huge boulder in the shape of a horse's skull, weighing more than 750 tons.

This boulder is known as "Steed-Stone" and gives its name to the island.

Absolutely wonderful place with fantastic atmosphere. I fell in love with this place 😍 Also the weather was so warm +28C and it was awesome.

Notice: Ladoga is the largest lake entirely in Europe and the 14th largest freshwater lake by area in the world. There are around 660 islands with a total area of about 435 km2.

Konevitsa on ortodoksisesta Konevitsan luostarista kuulu saari Laatokan lÀnsirannan tuntumassa Sortanlahden edustalla.

Saarelle pÀÀsee uudella katamaraanilla Sortanlahdesta (n. 15 minuutin matka).
