Cobble of the Antietam Formation (Cambrian quartzite, Blue Ridge) later deposited in the Potomac Group (Cretaceous river gravels, Piedmont hilltops / basal Coastal Plain). The cobble displays the vertical trace fossil "Skolithos" (sometimes spelled "Skolithus"), usually interpreted as a worm burrow. Each burrow is 2-3 mm in diameter. Plan (map) view.
