The site on the bank of the Monongahela River is a National Historic Landmark. Right now, the weeds have been whacked away from part of the site, and tours are offered in areas that have been stabilized.
In the future, with the expenditure of tens of millions of dollars, it may become the focal point of the Homestead Works National Park, an homage to the steel industry that collapsed in this area 35 years ago.
