2nd place, Birds in Portrait, 2009 Atlanta Audubon Society Photo Contest

I'm pleased that an 8x10 version of this photo won Honorable Mention last night (21 Jul 2009) at the Roswell Photographic Society's Wildlife review, digital projected images category.

I am thrilled that David chose this as picture of the day in Bratanesque. Please check out this thread of jaw-droppingly superb photographs. I am honored to have this photo among them.

This captive Red-shouldered hawk resides at the Chattahoochee Nature Center and is part of their educational program. It cannot be released into the wild because it has a deformed beak that makes it unable to feed itself. You don't have to be a kid to be thrilled to be so close to such a beautiful creature.

I hope to catch up with you all later. Thanks for dropping by.

    Reminders, please:
    • Do not invite my photos to groups with large or .gif invitation icons or to groups that require one to comment and fave. I appreciate the gesture and the recognition that you like the photos, but my Flickr time is extremely limited and I prefer to do that voluntarily, as my time permits. In those cases I prefer that you comment just in text.
    • Do not invite my photos to multiple groups in a single comment. I believe that dilutes the value of each invitation and does not allow others to extend invitations.
    • Do not add notes to my images nor use photos in your comments. Use links instead, unless the photo is pertinent, in which case please use the Small or Thumbnail size.
    Thank you very much.

This is one of the finest eye reflections on a raptor I've seen on flickr. Truly exceptional capture. The pose on the second shot is very cool.

I am pretty much right there with you on the reminders but am wary of implementing similar policies on my stream. I have to learn to not always be so nice, the myspace conversion of flickr seems to be in full march at times. The garlands of sometimes even ten invites seem petty and the large icons give the comments a cheapened feel at times...

Seen on your photo stream. (?)
