Strawberry Breakfast Fresh from the Garden!

Just beyond Sabbie the cat is the strawberry patch which overflows into the "lawn" which as you can see isn't a lawn per se but unmowed grass. I like the wild look. I definitely don't want it to look like some anally retentive garden trimmed with shears and kept "just so" Beyond the strawberry patch is the last remaining bit of seemingly unstoppable Japanese Knotweed. It's the only plant I actively target for destruction. It's pernicious. It's like Kudzu. Give it half a chance and it will take over. A landscape gardener I know told me their roots go down 10 metres which sounds unbelievable, but having lived with this plant for awhile, I'm starting to believe it. You're not even allowed to throw it out with the regular rubbish - you're supposed to burn it, but that hasn't stopped my next door neighbour from cultivating it as the sole plant in the cracks of her paved back garden. She's also the neighbour who complains about me not mowing the lawn. Go figure.
