When I heard the news of the OcTRAINber contest I was amazed as I thought I'd have the perfect engine for it (which still is a wip now). When I saw the rules with the minimum length I was disappointed as my WIP engine didn't fit those requirements - so I decided not to participate. Convinced by some people on Eurobricks I realized that I could finish this commuter train I started some time ago but never came around to finish - and changed my first decision to leave out the contest. Because of limited time however I just finished in time - with only minutes left before the contest deadline.
As always, I do hate the underframe - it's a pain to find good pictures of it, furthermore it is different on both sides so it takes very long most of the time.
Now some facts! This is a 4020 class 3 part electric multiple unit built for the Austrian federl railways (ÖBB) in 1978. It is extensively used for the rapid transit in Vienna and I get to enjoy this train nearly every day :)
The standard configuration actually is made by 2 of this units coupled together - only on weekends and holidays they drive single units.
I'm still not happy with all parts of the train, I'm especially unsure about the bogies...
However all the parts should be available for purchase (the pantograph is a stand-in for a better one - LDD won't allow my illegal techniques :P)
