Datura Flower - Up Close and Personal

These plants are commonly seen growing along side of the road as weeds in our part of the world. I find the trumpet shaped flowers to be quite beautiful, and I picked up a couple this afternoon that I found in our neighborhood.

I lit this with a bare Yongnuo YN560-II behind the flower at 1 o'clock for backlighting and to reveal textures. I then put a Yongnuo YN560 in a a softbox for fill light in front of the flower at about 5 o'clock. Both strobes, in manual mode, were triggered by Tiny Triggers from scottrobertstudio.com.

Other plants and flowers that I've photographed using strobes can be seen in my Strobe Lit Plant set. In the description for that set, I list resources that I've used to learn how to light with off camera flash. www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157628079460544/
