Hummingbird Getting Into Its Food
I went to the San Diego Zoo today on a nice and overcast morning that provided beautiful soft and even light. I don't think that many people are aware that the Zoo spends almost as much money on plants and landscaping as they do on animals, but the result is a beautiful park with lots of exotic plants that thrive in our mild climate. I was photographing a bush that had beautiful and showy flowers on it that look quite similar to bottlebush when this Annas hummingbird flew into the picture to feed. Lucky me. I've taken a lot of pictures of hummers using strobes and feeders, but I have almost no pictures of the birds eating nectar from flowers. An unexpected bonus. This looks much better when viewed large, and you can see it in that enlightened manner by pressing "L" on your keyboard.
Other hummingbird pictures I've take are in my Hummingbird album. www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157627149575339/
