Egyptian Goose

Sailor Bar, American River Parkway / Sacramento County, California

After reading an email that an Egyptian Goose had been seen at the boat ramp at Sailor Bar on the American River Parkway I decided to go see if I could get some quality photos of it on 8/27/2014 and then again on 8/29/2014. My first set of images were not to my liking so on 9/26/2014 I took my twin brother, Dennis, who has been visiting here since 9/11/2014, to see if we could still see the Egyptian Goose. Surprisingly, the goose was within 20 feet of the same location when I first had seen it and the images are much better than my first visit, thankfully. I returned back to Sailor Bar on 9/30/2014 with my Mom and this image, along with a few others that I will be posting, have enough quality to them that they are worthy of being on Flickr. However, when I went to look for the goose the next day I could not locate it.

The Egyptian Goose is not native to California or the USA so, obviously, someone must have either released it here or it escaped from a waterfowl collection and decided to mingle with the other waterfowl since there are other forms of waterfowl near the boat ramp that are also not native here.
