Bangers and Mash

(Not a good photo - no flash, poor light, was keen to eat it)

Went to Mod Pop Cafe on Oldham Street for the first time today. It's a vegetarian cafe inside a shop selling vintage clothing and, well, stuff. It was cheerful, busy, and had a refreshingly different menu. This isn't a cafe of delicate cakes, fine tea and elegance, it's a cafe of all-day breakfasts, sausage sandwiches, curry sauce and cakes too.

I had veggie sausage, mashed spuds and some exceptionally nice gravy, and Arteth had English curry sauce with a pile of mushrooms on rice, with a salad. The group of young ladies we shared a table with were eating a variety of huge sandwiches containing a variety of fried things. Mod Pop Cafe is regular haunt of local veggie groups but also seems to appeal to lots of non-veggies (I was eavesdropping a little)
