Lunch at Lily's - battered potato slices
Lily's is a south Indian vegetarian diner and takeaway in Ashton under Lyne, very close to the IKEA.
We've heard a lot of good stories about Lily's and have been meaning to go for awhile, but the necessity of visiting IKEA has now at last led us to Lily's door.
I'd expected a small indian restaurant like Jyoti's in Birmingham but Lily's looks quite different, a spacious diner/delicatessen. The food is all vegetarian and a lot of it is vegan too. Good prices and very tasty food, with friendly and helpful staff (we were warned that portions are quite generous as we'd got a bit carried away with ordering starters.)
This is one of the starters (I can't remember the name). It reminded me of fried potato skins but with a nice mild spiciness, very hot and crisp, and a big serving.
